Norma Lee Sweet, born November 14, 1928 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Lester and Bertha Rush. She had one brother Ralph Abston. They lived on the Carter Oil Camp until they moved to Henryetta, Oklahoma where she spent most of her childhood. Norma Lee, known by her family as "Mar," was a woman who carried incredible qualities because she followed her Lord and Savior. She modeled all the qualities in Proverbs 31, a woman who truly feared the Lord. Norma Lee was most proud of her family. She loved being a mother and taught us how to be a mother. She was kind, caring, humble and generous and had a way of making everyone feel like family. She had an exceptional aptitude for gardening and we believe she had two green thumbs. We all remember a pantry of her canned vegetables, especially her canned beets. She was an exceptional cook. Her grandchildren have memories of kitty cat shaped pancakes. She loved to tell stories of her past. Norma Lee had a flowery and decorated way of expressing words at times. Oliver and Norma Lee Sweet were married 67 years. From that union they had three children: Jim Sweet, Jolene Lundell, and Travis Sweet; eight grandchildren: Christina and Amber, Jason and Jennifer, Sarah and Joshua, and Adam and Amanda; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson. Oliver and Norma Lee were members of the Nazarene Church in Henryetta and then Chapman Nazarene Church. On November 16, 1986 they became members of the Midwest City Free Methodist Church. Norma Lee enjoyed traveling and fishing trips. In 1990, Oliver and Norma Lee spent a year traveling the United States. Norma Lee was preceded in death by her parents, brother, daughter, and husband. She is survived by her two sons Jim and Travis, their families and her daughter's families. Funeral services will be held Monday September 19th at 2:00 p.m. at the Midwest City Free Methodist Church, 6500 E. Reno, Midwest City, Oklahoma. Burial following at Arlington Memory Gardens in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
